| Title: | Carsington Water |
| Description: | This lake is one of the best I\'ve been on for windsurfing due to the amount of space you have. Usually it\'s not particularly busy but sometimes gets crowded if warm, windy and a weekend (but most spots would I\'m sure).
Buy a windsurf or canoe launch from Carsington Watersports and this includes parking (right next to lake). Cheaper to buy a block of 10. Instruction is available up to level 3 officially although some of the instructors are level 5.
There\'s a camp site next door, and a pub (expensive!) next door to that. Non-windsurfers can be sent off for a walk or cycle around the lake (cycle hire available), or could hire a canoe.
Which wind direction is best?
South-West and North seem best. Easterlies not so good.
What time of year is best?
This lake gets very cold in winter, bearable in summer. Depends what you\'re willing to endure but it\'s open all year, maybe not Christmas day.
Any local hazards?
The lake is used by fishermen in boats, the sailing club, and by people from the watersports school as well as windsurfers. If windsurfing you\'re meant to stay away when the sailors are racing (because they get upset when constantly overtaken).
Can you kitesurf there?
No.
